Soundmix is pleased to announce a fundraiser on the 25th November at the Tricycle Cinema, Kilburn, London, which includes a screening of Afghan Star (currently nominated for Sundance, Oscar and Grammy awards), with the producer/director present, a musical performance and a chance to win UK X factor tickets.
David Lintern started the Soundmix Project in 2006 with another CM student Sarah Elliot, as part of their tutor qualification with CM. Since then Soundmix has worked with hundreds of young people claiming asylum who are separated from their families. CM's Dave O' Donnell and Vanessa Elston were instrumental in supporting the project in its early stages.
Recently the project has grown to include a steering committee and is currently applying for charitable status.
A recent graduate from the program has successfully begun a performance based course at Access to Music, Croydon.
A short film has also been made, to celebrate a concert given by the project to stakeholders in the summer, following many other successful shows held at Refugee Council and locally in Brixton.
