Competition winner masters EP at CM studio
London MC LJ has mastered his debut EP at CM after winning a competition for a day in the studio. This year’s competition was advertised through Pyro Radio and Drum n Bass magazine.
LJ, who started rapping in 1998, relocated to Brighton in 2002 where he helped found Hip Hop crew SouTHErn Suspects, alongside his producer KingPin and several other MCs, DJs and Beat makers. After releasing several mixtapes and performing at many events such as Beachdown, Great Escape and Rising Styles Festivals, the group disbanded in February to focus on solo projects.
During his day at CM, LJ was able to finish the mastering of his Hot Peppa EP (due for digital release in early October) with CM Tutor and Producer/ Engineer, David Lintern, and had this to say:
“David is a brilliant Engineer. Whereas many Engineers can be awkward and don’t want to show you anything, David took time to explain the techniques he was using and I gained a lot of knowledge over the day. My EP sounds amazing now- the full potential of my music has been realised. Now I know about the work CM does, I will be spreading the word!”
