Local Bands Share Stage With Master Shortie At Underage Festival

Situated right in the middle of one of the most innovative festivals of 2009, Underage, CM and Tower Hamlet’s Music Space Stage aims to bridge the gap between an educational charity and the commercial music industry by providing a platform for promising unknown acts from the local area at this prestigious teenage event. Bold programming saw local bands such as Naga and Attack of The Moths share the stage with crowd pullers Master Shortie and Underground Heroes, and, despite the esoteric mix, the stage maintained atmosphere throughout, at times bulging at the seams.

“Underage festival is the perfect place to showcase new music. The crowd have such an open mind, the tent can be empty one minute, but if they like what they hear, people appear from nowhere and the tent is buzzing”

Gawain Hewitt, Creative Director, CM

Founded in 2006, Music Space aims to help young musicians in London’s poorest borough to develop with rehearsal space, tuition, mentoring and gigs. Together with their monthly showcase at Rough Trade East, Greenshoots, CM have created an impressive live schedule combining social and artistic aims, and making a real difference to local young people.
