Sound Mix is a community music project based in Brixton, South London, working with young people from the Refugee Council who have no family support in the UK. Sound Mix was set up and is now run by CM trained staff also currently teaching at CM (Project Coordinator, David Lintern). The project helps offer music skills previously denied to the students in their own countries and provides a creative and social outlet whilst here in the UK, under new and sometimes frightening circumstances away from their home and family.
Sound Mix has been running weekly classes for nearly 3 years, and a recent grant from SMILE has enabled its After Schools Club to start running again, after a 6 month break due to lack of funding.
Sound Mix: 2-4pm and 4.30-7pm, every Thursday (except school holidays), Refugee Council, 240-250 Ferndale Road, Brixton, London SW9 8BB
